Delta Analytics is reimagining data for good. We have been since 2013 and we invite you to join us. This year is the second year of our Global Teaching Fellows program. In 2020, we focused the program on building distributed technical capacity around the world. Our goal is simple — to empower educators around the world to teach machine learning in their communities.

Who are we?

Delta Analytics is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was founded 7 years ago with a focus on helping nonprofits advance their mission through data-driven solutions. Since 2013, our data fellows have partnered with over 50 nonprofits and social impact organizations all over the world to help address their data problems.

In 2017, we added a second arm to our organization, the Teaching Fellows initiative. The Teaching Fellows program grew out of our belief that impact and education go hand in hand. Since 2017, we have built out an accessible curriculum on introductory machine learning and taught the curriculum in Kenya, Morocco, and the San Francisco Bay Area. In 2020, we started the Global Teaching Fellows program with the goal of empowering educators who are already transforming their communities.

What is the global teaching fellow program?

We want to support educators all over the world as they teach machine learning in their community. The program is 6 months long and is focused on monthly hackathons designed to build community and introduce pedagogical principles to teach machine learning. We pair each fellow with a dedicated mentor to support them throughout their journey. The program culminates in a graduation lecture, where each fellow prepares and delivers a lecture on a topic of their choice in the field of machine learning.

Interested?

We are excited to begin the second year of our Global Teaching Fellows program.

Who are we looking for?

If you have a passion for machine learning, would like to grow as an educator, and are excited by the prospect of advancing data education in your community, we want to work with you.

Where do you have to be to apply?

Our 2021 program will be conducted virtually, so when we say global, we mean it. We are open to supporting individuals all over the world. You name the location, and we will try to meet you there with what you need to make it happen.

What will you do as a Global Teaching Fellow?

You will work with the core Delta Teaching fellows team to communicate your passion for data science and machine learning. We will work with you to prepare and deliver a lecture on a machine learning topic of your choice. We will encourage you to use local datasets and tackle problems relevant to your community. You will learn fundamental pedagogical principles — we want to encourage you to leverage a set of empowering teaching tools and philosophies.

How will we support you?

We will provide small stipends to support program expenses, and we will provide a built-in learners and teachers community for support. We are, and plan to, continue to be entirely volunteer-driven, so the global teaching fellows will not be a paid position.

If this excites you or someone you know, apply here and join our Delta family — we would love to meet you!
